What is the Deconetwork Excel Data Mapper?
The Deconetwork Excel Data Mapper is a browser-based tool designed to simplify the process of transforming supplier product data files (such as CSV or Excel files) into the specific format required by Deconetwork for easy product uploads. No more manual copy-paste, endless column reordering, or error-prone formatting! Simply upload your supplier files, map the fields to the pre-loaded Deconetwork template, and export a compliant spreadsheet, ready for upload.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Files
- Gather all your supplier product files that you want to import (CSV, XLSX, etc.). You can upload multiple files at once.
- No need to upload a Deconetwork template—this is pre-loaded for you.
- Check that your supplier files have clear headers (column names) in the first row.
Step 2: Upload Supplier Files
- Click "Choose Files" and select all the relevant CSV/XLSX files from your computer.
- Wait for the tool to load and display all available supplier columns for mapping.
Step 3: Map Your Columns
- You’ll see a list of Deconetwork Template Fields (see table below).
- For each template field, use the dropdown to select the matching supplier column.
- If your supplier uses a different name for a field, pick the closest match (see Common Field Mappings below).
- If no supplier field is available, you can enter a default value (for example, enter "T-shirts" for all products if missing a category).
- Review all mappings for accuracy—ensure each template field is mapped to the correct supplier column or default value.
Step 4: Export & Download
- Click "Export Mapped Data" once all mappings are set up.
- The tool will process the data and download a formatted Excel file compatible with Deconetwork's import requirements.
- Double check your exported file before uploading to Deconetwork.

Tips: Common Supplier-to-Template Field Mappings
Deconetwork Field | Typical Supplier Field Names |
---|---|
ProductName | Name, Title, Item, Product, Product Title |
ProductDescription | Description, Details, Features, LongDesc |
Supplier | Supplier, Vendor, Manufacturer, Provider |
Brand | Brand, Label, Make, Company |
DNProductType | Product Type, Category, Type, Line |
VendorProductCode | Product Code, Supplier Code, Ref, ID |

Tip: Many suppliers use different column names for the same data. Make a note of what each supplier calls important fields (e.g., if Portwest uses "Item" for SKU code) so you'll know exactly how to map them!
Pro Tips for Smooth Mapping
- Upload all relevant supplier files together—headers from all files are available in every dropdown.
- If you’re unsure about a mapping, check your supplier’s documentation or do a quick sample export and verify the data.
- Use the default value feature for columns that are missing entirely from your supplier data.
- After export, always open your file and double-check a few records for correctness before importing into Deconetwork.
- If you repeatedly source from a supplier, keep a cheat sheet for their column header meanings versus Deconetwork’s requirements.
- For large catalogues, map and test a handful of products first—don’t wait until you have 1,000 rows mapped to discover an error.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
- No fields appear after uploading files: Make sure your supplier CSV/XLSX has headers in the very first row. Avoid merged cells or hidden columns.
- Dropdown is empty or missing headers: Check your original file in Excel/Google Sheets and make sure all relevant columns are named and visible.
- Output file won't upload to Deconetwork: Compare the output columns to the template fields list above. Columns must match exactly, and there can be no extra or missing fields.
- Performance is slow or browser crashes: For very large files (thousands of rows), try splitting into smaller batches or using a more powerful computer/browser.
